On Monday morning we officially started climbing for Expedition 8000.
We have decided to start by "climbing" Annapurna I, which seems fitting seeing as it was the first of the eight-thousanders to be be climbed. Annapurna I stands at 8,091 metres which represents 2,505 stories on the step machine. This is a small portion of our entire goal, and when we finally finish climbing all of the fourteen eight-thousanders we will have ascended 115,972m or 35,940 stories. For more details about the mountains please visit the Mountains page where you can read about the names and history of each mountain.
Just as we are starting out there are also teams commencing their own, actual, expeditions in Nepal. Watching these teams on social media is certainly making us look forward to when we can return to the mountains. We wish them all successful and safe climbs!
We are also currently in discussions with a local charity who are active in their support for the climbing communities and we hope to announce some further details soon. We will also be setting up a GoFundMe page in the near future to facilitate any donations.
Hopefully we can raise some much needed funds and awareness about working conditions for climbing support staff.
